The 2023 kids fishing contest is canceled due to unsafe Ice.

Not so much a ‘contest’ as it is a fun and easy way to take kids ice fishing and (even if they don’t catch fish) have a chance to win a prize. The FREE “Kids Ice Fishing Contest” is for kids up to age 12 and runs from 12noon - 1pm the same day as the Wanderoos Area Community Club Ice Fishing Contest (traditionally the 1st Saturday of February)..  Did we say FREE??  Yes!  We pre-drill the holes (thanks to Steve James and the New Richmond Fishin’ Tigers), give each participant a jig-stick and bait, have people to help with getting kids set up, bring around a snack, give prizes for all fish caught, and have over $1500 of prizes!  Thanks to the following organizations who helped sponsored our Kids Contest in 2022:: Wanderoos Area Community Club, Star Prairie Fish & Game, Raveling Bucket Companies, LLC, The Mix Up, Russell’s Sport ‘n Bike, Panfish Plastics, Bernick’s Pepsi, Balsam Lake Rod & Gun Club, Polk County Sportsmen, Cain's Butchering & Processing, and Johnson Stone & Tile.
